Fornasetti

Rosenthal takes the surreal, dream-like Julia faces drawn by Italian artist and decorator Piero Fornasetti and transposes them onto porcelain collector's plates. Each numbered plate in the series features a different black-and-white variation of the 19th-century woman's face, sometimes in Cubist deconstruction or transmogrified into a lioness or the sun. A fabulous gift for the collector, the gold-rimmed, nine-and-a-half-inch plates are safe to eat from or may be hung on the wall by way of two holes on the back. Washing by hand is recommended.
